Dear Pediatrician, Thanks for the thoroughness but your crowded waiting room was the last place I wanted to be this morning. Bubba is back to good, and all he got from that follow up appointment is a belly full of cheddar bunnies and a flu shot. 

Dear Nap time, although you have decided to come around once, instead of twice, a day- I love how long you are! 3 hours to myself is pretty spectacular!

Dear Bubba, I love that you are starting to talk a little bit more. Your constant "Uh-Oh!"s this morning were cracking me up!

Dear Weekend, I love you.

Dear Friday, thanks for getting here in a timely manner. I have been looking forward to you! 

Dear Bubba, You are getting a haircut today. Also, you are going to your first REAL MSU football game tomorrow (although you have been in the stadium before!) please be a good boy and let Mama stay for at least the first half! It's going to be such a fun day! 

Dear Spartan Football Team, Please don't embarrass us on Saturday. Please start playing better. Please. It would be really awesome to NOT lose to Ohio State... just saying!

Dear School, I need to start reading for you. But when I get home at the end of the day I am just so sleepy. Today is the day I will get around to it! Promise! 

Dear Husband, Thanks for the surprise brownies you swiped me from the office. They were delicious.

Dear Work, Thanks for being pretty great yesterday. Watching a 10 year old little boy be adopted into his new family, with his new big brother by his side - my heart was so full! The amazing work my office does is truly awesome, I'm excited to be just a tiny part of it!

Dear Life, I don't recognize you anymore. How can what was our day-to-day 6 weeks ago feel so foreign now?! I feel like I took last year for granted. Getting to determine what I did and when I did it, and being able to choose pajamas and coffee ALL DAY if I wanted to?! I miss you... But that being said, this change was so good. I need structure. I need to be doing what I am doing now and I am so thankful we were able to make the transition!

Dear Husband, I AM SO PUMPED FOR THIS WEEKEND! We have not spent a full weekend at home since MAY. How did we let this happen? This summer was so much fun but I am really excited for us to "slow down" and spend more time together as a family of three in our home. I feel like I barely get to spend any time with you, as weird as that may sound, it's true! Can't wait for two full days of your face. 

Dear Jack, My baby. I miss you the most. I feel like I haven't been able to give you my full attention these last few weeks and the mom guilt over it is real. You need this weekend too. Your mama and your daddy all to yourself! We are going to play, play, play all weekend long! 

Dear Allie, I get to see you tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! Words cannot express how excited I am! How have we let it be so long?! Cannot wait to see the boys back together again :) Not to mention super cute photo opps at the pumpkin patch!

Dear School, After two days of orientations... I am really ready to get this show on the road! I have all of my school supplies (organized & color coded), my books ordered, & we semi have a morning routine! Also, I am so anxious to get my field placement interviews underway and make it official! I cannot wait to be working in an adoption agency and learning about all of the different aspects of the process!  

Dear Jack, You were such a trooper going to the babysitter this week! You seemed to really enjoy it and I was glad that I didn't need to worry about you while I was away. You are such a big one year old boy, and I cannot believe how much you have grown and changed just in the last 2 weeks! I am so excited to celebrate your birthday all over again this weekend at the lake. Also, you are a giant! 99th percentile for height?! You will be towering over your mama before I know it! Your dad and I are so happy to be home with you. We missed you oh-so-much! 

Dear John, We didn't really get to ease back into "real life" did we?! I am so grateful for our long trip. I am so refreshed and ready for this "new lifestyle" we are transitioning into. Your support during these next couple of years while I am in school is priceless to me. I appreciate you wanting my dreams/goals for me as much as I want them for myself! 

Dear Readers, I apologize for the offensive amount of vacation pictures. I know that it's not really that much fun to look at other people's vacations, but I just had to document our amazing trip! I hope you can all bear with me as this blog also makes a transition. My day-to-day will no longer be all things Jack... I hope you will journey with me while I figure out how to be a student, employee, wife, and mom all at once! AH! 

Dear Summer, You are quickly slipping away. I am not too sad. It's been hot! But I will definitely cherish these last two weekends at the lake. I will miss it come February! 

Dear Erin, YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED IN TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!

Dear Jack, your dad and I are soaking in every second of you and cannot believe we are leaving you for a full week! You have been changing and learning new things every day. It's amazing to see. You're saying all kinds of new words like, "hello" and you have even started consistently calling out for "mama" (finally). I love watching you walk/run everywhere you go and how excited you get! I can't believe that once we get back from vacation your first birthday will be two short days away! We love you so much and will definitely be facetiming with you lots and lots while we are away!

Dear John, 8 whole days of you and me time?! I couldn't be more ready. I think we really need it. After the craziest, busiest year of our lives I cannot wait to celebrate you, us, our marriage, and this incredible family that we are building. Exploring a new place is going to be a blast and I have lots of excited butterflies. 

Dear Seattle, Cannot wait to meet you. Your weather forecast for the week is fantastic. Anything that is below 80 degrees sounds MIGHTY fine after this 100 degree summer! 

Dear School, you and I are about to get realllll close. I got a letter in the mail from you today. I had no idea I had two FULL DAY orientations the week I get back. I am so excited to start you and get this show on the road. 

Dear Football Season, You are right around the corner and I am so excited! The lake has been great, but after this hot hot summer I am ready for chilly weather, spiked coffee, boots, tailgates, and Spartan football! 

Friday's Letters

Dear Jack, thanks for being a good snuggle buddy this week. It's been rainy and gross so we've been hanging out at home, a lot. You haven't minded. You are working on some toofers and working hard. I will not lie to you- I'm excited to get to grandma's tonight so she can love on you and give me a little break :) p.s. Happy 11 months big boy... can't believe in one short month you will be a whole year old!

Dear July, in the calendar in my mind I skipped an entire week of you. On one hand I am sad because it means that there are TWO weeks until I head to Chicago and THREE weeks until Seattle.. BUT I am going to look on the bright side and consider it one EXTRA week to lose some extra lbs before all of my fun vacations!Dear Megan, I am excited to celebrate your birthday this weekend. I feel like I haven't seen you in FOR.EV.ER. okay three weeks - but whatever. I'm excited for some sistah time at the lake!Dear John, lets hope this audio book helps the car trips back and forth from the lake pass a little quicker - if it does... we are dumb for not having thought of it sooner!

Friday's Letters

Dear Sushi, I love you forever. I think I consumed my body weight in your delicious glory last night. I have been doing SO good all week (minus that oopsy piece of pizza at the zoo!) but all of that went down the drain when a giant platter of heaven was put in front of my face during the MIL's birthday dinner. I don't even feel guilty about it for two seconds. 
Dear Husband, The "I Told You So" moment last night was so very satisfying. A Japanese steak house DOES imply hibachi - You tried to get on your Asian high horse with me and I was having none of it! When we walked into the restaurant last night and there were hibachi grills all around I about died with "right"ness. Thankfully we were able to "salvage the situation" and sit on the none hibachi side. Your mistake ended in a delicious meal- double win! I love you so much sweetheart!
Dear Home, We are staying in you all weekend. Yup, that's right, no lake house... we are actually looking forward to a weekend of us three. John I'm sure will be doing NOTHING but reading his new book and playing on his new IPAD (spoiled boy). I hope to do a lot of relaxing and maybe hit up the sidewalk sales in our downtown :)
Dear Bubba, You are going to be walking any day. Those teeny tiny accidental steps that you took on Monday are no longer to be claimed as "accidental". And that walker toy you stole from Allie's house?! That thing is putting you over the edge of joy and happiness.

Dear Heat, HOLY MOLY! 100 degrees is HOT. I mean, I love summer and I love warm weather, but this is a little out of control. I normally find it pointless to complain about weather because there is nothing you can do about it... buuuuuut it's kind of ruining my lake weekend. Dear Lake House, Not having air conditioning is no longer acceptable. We had to retreat back to Grand Rapids for relief! Dear Bubba, Thank you for loving to swim. That is all. Dear John, 1) I am really excited to see you tomorrow! 2) I am REALLLLLLLY excited for our "belated honeymoon". A WHOLE WEEK in Seattle/San Juan Islands is going to be amazing! I cannot to go to the city where you were born, and one where I have never been! One month :)  Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
