What are you hoping to get for Christmas from your husband this year?
(If your husband reads your blog this can be one GIANT "hint hint")

It's not secret to my husband that all I want for Christmas is for him to clean my car. I mean, deep clean it. This might seem like nothing, but my poor poor car is a PIT. It is covered in cheddar bunnies and spilled coffee. I have at least 3 different coats, 4 pairs of shoes, and a few shirts in there... you know, just in case. It is so far beyond messy that I just can't bring myself to clean it. I just don't want to! So, my dear dear husband can do it for me, it's basically a gift to him because it doesn't require him spending any money :)

Can't wait to read what is on your Christmas wish lists!

Next Week:
What is your new years resolution for your marriage?

What is a holiday tradition that you and your husband do or plan to do each year? If you don't have any, what is an idea you could try out this year?!
John and I don't have any "original" Christmas traditions. On the actually holiday we are with family, so our family traditions are blending with the traditions we both had growing up. I know that each year we will go to his parents to help them cut down their Christmas tree (we at least attempted to help this year but got rained out...) and that we will spend Christmas Eve partying at my parents.
Christmas 2011
Something that we have done each year (not on a specific date) is watch Love Actually. We have yet to do it this year, but one night we will look at each other and say "Love Actually".
As we have more children and they get older, I hope they look forward to cutting down our family Christmas tree, decorating the tree, and making cookies as a family.

Wedded Bliss Wednesdays

Welcome back for another WBW!
For the next few weeks our questions will be Christmas themed
& I think it's a great way for us to inject some Christmas spirit into our marriages!
Just a remind on the rules:
1. Be followers of both Allie and I's blogs!
2. Grab the button and link up!
3. Visit at least one other post!
If money were not an issue, what would you buy for husband for Christmas this year?
Hmm... this is a tough one! There are a lot of "obvious" answers to this question. A house, a brand new SUV.. BUT I am thinking a bit "outside of the box". My husband has been talking about this place in Norway that he saw a picture of on the internet nonstop for almost an entire year. It's a really remote string of islands that I'm pretty sure is cold all year long...
The Lofoten Islands in Norway.
Gorgeous right?!

Well, if money were not an issue I would LOVE to surprise my husband with a trip to those beautiful mountains.

He would never expect it, be SO excited, and it would be an excuse for the two of us to go away together and explore a new place!

I know he would love it :)
Sighh... maybe someday!

Wedded Bliss Wednesdays

Sorry I'm a little late this week... I was too excited about installing Allie's new blog design last night to leave time for writing a post! So I am getting it now, while I should be working (whoops...) I have my FIRST SOLO home visit tonight and to say that I am nervous would be the understatement of the century... anyways... here we are for another WBW!

1. Grab the Button
2. Be sure to follow both Allie and I
3. Follow at least 1 other person
4. Link up your post!

What is your husband's style?
Comfortable, classic, and masculine. John wear dress pants and a dress shirt to work everyday and looks GOOD in it :) He LOVES being able to get dressed up in a suit and tie whenever the opportunity presents itself and I love it! On the weekends? He's a jeans and t-shirt with tennis shoes kind of guy! Shoes are his thing... he's very fussy about his shoes, which I like. I have always had this theory... any guy can have an accidental "good outfit" but if his shoes are bad he has no style. The night I met John he had shoes that went perfectly with his outfit :)

What is your LEAST favorite piece(s) of his wardrobe?
Two word. Puffy Vest (Allie TRULY understands this one...)

If you have a picture show us!!

I know I have a picture of John in the puffy vest somewhere... but I decided not to dig for it (you should be thankful John!) This picture is a really good description of John's style. Nice shirt, Jeans, Sperry's... I mean, I think he looks good :)

What would you love for your man to wear?
Really, I think he dresses great on his own. One day when we have more expendable income I think he will go shopping more and expand his wardrobe :)

For the rest of the holiday season we will be doing themed questions!
(if you have any ideas, leave them! haha)
Next week is one question!
If money were not an option (say, you won the lottery) what would you buy your man?

What are you most thankful for in your marriage?

This being a week of thanks and also the week of John and I's wedding anniversary, I am definitely feeling the love for my husband! What I am most thankful for in our marriage would have to be the room to grow and our ability to let one another change.

I think/feel like a lot of people marry each other expecting to be married to that same person for the rest of their lives... but in reality. We never stop evolving as individuals, and therefore we never stop evolving as couples either!

I am so grateful that John and I both realize that we both have a lot to learn, a lot of room for improvement, and that we are able to apply this to our marriage. We are constantly learning and growing with one another.

This year has already been full of so many changes. Roles have shifted, responsibilities redistributed... we have taken most of it in stride, but there have still been bumps in this road. I'm changing, John is changing, Jack is ALWAYS changing... there isn't much that is set in stone in our commitment to each other and to our family.

Most days I don't think we notice. Other days it feels like an adventure. Some day... it feels like things are falling apart. But really, at the end of the day, we have each other to hold onto.

I love that we grow. I love that we expect each other to grow.

Next week....
Let's talk MAN fashion!
What is your husband's style?
What is your LEAST favorite piece(s) of his wardrobe?

We are looking for FUN questions!

Wedded Bliss Wednesdays

Can we discuss that I haven't blogged since LAST week's WBW?! Blogger fail..
Life will be kinda cray cray until the end of my semester..
but I couldn't skip out on my fav blogging day of the week :)

You know the deal:
-Follow both Allie and I's blogs
-Grab the button
-Visit at least one other blog that linked up!
1. What is your husband's best trait as a father?
His playfulness. John is (and will probably always be) Jack's favorite. I know it's because John gets down to the ground and rough houses with Jack. He reads stories, sings songs, the works! Jack loves to be around his daddy and play.
2. What is your husband's favorite thing to do with the kids?
John loves Bubba snuggles. Lets get real, we all do. That child went a solid 8 months without snuggling unless sleeping, so John LOVES when Jack chills with him on the couch and they watch sports. You know, man stuff.
3. How does your husband help out with the kids?
How DOESN'T John help with Jack? From day one John has changed diapers, given baths, done middle-of-the-night feedings, etc. Parenting in our house is TRULY a team effort and always has been. I am constantly being told how lucky I am.. in my opinion, things are as they should be! But I am lucky that John agrees parenting is a 50/50 deal!
4. What do you hope your children learn from their dad?
His kindness. I hope Jack loves people and sees the good in things the way his dad does.

Next week!
ONE question:
What are you most thankful for in your marriage?

CHILDHOOD EXPECTATIONS OF MARRIAGE!
1. When you were a child what did you imagine YOUR Prince Charming to be like?
Kind, affectionate, and hot.
2. Does you husband match your prediction as a child?
Check, check, & CHECK (ow ow, baby) ;)
3. What about when you were a teenager and knew it all about love, does you relationship match that scenario you had during those rebel years?
I thought love was all about spending every second together, romance all the time, and dramatic gestures of undying affections... in reality, my marriage and love is more about mutual respect, growing together, and working towards building a life. All of the romance and epic gestures are fine, but they aren't an every day (or every week) occurrence, and that's just fine by me!
4. What love movie would you best match your relationship to? Why?
Hmmm... I hope John and I can be like George and Nina Banks from the Father of the Bride movies. Besides the fact that those movies are straight classic.. I don't think they portray an unrealistic story line of marriage. They screw up, they fight, but they grow together and love each other - keeping that romance alive.
Had to find a "Franck included" picture :)

Next week's questions: Your husband as a father/future father:
1. What is/will be your husband's best trait as a father?
2. What is/will be your husband's favorite thing to do with the kids?
3. How does/will your husband help out with the kids?
4. What do you hope your children learn from their dad?

Happy Halloween!!!
Jack is at my parent's tonight so I have no baby to get festive with (tears)
BUT we still get to have some wedded bliss fun :)

Make sure you grab the button,

What is the best gift to give your husband?
John, like most men, is hard to shop for! I always try to do a mixture of fun with need. We don't really spend a lot of money on ourselves and we both love presents, so I try to be as thoughtful as possible! This year for his birthday I got him Tigers tickets and some books. He loved it :)
What is a meaningful gift that you can give that does not cost money?
For Valentine's day this year I made him a "fairy-tale book" about our love story. It was inexpensive and from the heart. He loved it, and we will always have it!
What is the best gift you have given to him?
I just asked him and he's going, "Ummmmmm... ahh...." WOW honey, do I suck that bad at giving gifts?!
He decided on the green tie I bought him for Christmas last year.. hahaha
What is the best gift he has given to you?
For Valentine's day he sang me a song with the guitar.. I really loved that! A close second would probably be the bench he bought for our master for my birthday!
What are you giving this holiday?
I'm not sure that we are giving gifts... boring, I know! But John has mentioned that he would like a Birchbox for men...

You know the deal by now:

make sure you are following your hosts (Allie and I!),
and try to read/comment on at least 2 other posts!
This week it was really nice to hear some nice words from my hubby.
I hope you are all feeling as loved and romantical as I am :)

Words by John, Pictures by yours truly :)

What was the first thing you noticed about your wife?

Her confidence.
This is the night that John and I first met. SO drunk confident...
When you first started dating your wife, what kept you calling/asking her out?

Little Mermaid Jokes. Long story here – she’s awkward, it made me smile.

What is your wife's best quality?

She demands the best of me, and holds me accountable for my behavior. It makes me a better person. So, I guess her best quality is her ability to make those around her better.

What is your favorite thing to do with your wife (ahem, keep it clean!)?

On a weekly basis? Lazy Sundays, coffee and breakfast, playing with Bubba. All time favorite? When she allows we do a Star Wars marathon every year on Father’s Day. Every year. Ohhhh yeah.

What are you most excited for the future with your wife?

Dual income. Just kidding - Watching our family grow, putting down roots and becoming part of a community, having friends again… finding or building our dream home, vacations, DIY projects, tailgates, holidays with loved ones, going to PTA meetings, embarrassing Jack… pretty much anything and everything.

How do you make your wife feel loved?

I guess my way of showing love isn’t what every girl dreams about – but I try and make Kay feel loved by working my butt off to help at home, making dinner, doing dishes, changing diapers, cleaning floors. Just trying to make life easier. I’m pretty bad about the thoughtful, lovey dovey stuff though. Sorry babe.

Next week's questions: Gifts!
What is the best gift to give your husband?
What is a meaningful gift that you can give that does not cost money?
What is the best gift you have given to him?

What is the best gift he has given to you?
What are you giving this holiday?

If you could give one piece of advice to any married (or soon-to-be married) couple, what would it be?
Communicate. Even if you know each other better than anyone else, you are not a psychic and neither is your spouse. If you expect, want, or need something- say it! Talk about it. It doesn't have to be a fight, but if you let it go and don't communicate with your spouse then it eventually will become one.
What is an absolute MUST for any marriage/relationship?
Common values, goals, and morals.
If you do not share the same basic ideals for your life together, you will constantly be moving in different directions and possibly even getting in one another's way. The best way to be on the same page and working towards the same things is to do what? Communicate!
What is the #1 no-no in a marriage?
Giving up. Giving up on yourself, your spouse, your marriage. The minute you give up or stop caring, everything falls apart. Before John and I got engaged we talked a lot about what marriage means to us. We were both raised by people that didn't use divorce in their vocabulary. They also didn't sugar-coat things and teach us that it was easy. We knew that we were going to have to wake up and choose our marriage every single day. Some days it's hard. But we promised in front of God and everybody that we were in this forever. No giving up!
What is the biggest lesson you have learned from your marriage?
That sometimes you need to let it go. That there is no winner/loser. When an argument boils down to who is right and who is wrong everyone is losing. I love my husband despite our bad days. I learned that love is more than just romance and butterflies in your stomach. For me, I never knew I could feel so incomplete when not with someone. Even when I am mad as hell at John, I still want to be by him. It can be a suffocating, overwhelming feeling at times. But 99% of the time, it's the most comforting thing in the world.

Next Week's Questions:
We thought it would be fun to flip the script!
We found out the first week that not everyone's husbands LOVE the whole blogging thing, but in whatever format (vlog, pen & paper, full on guest post) it's time to hear from the men!
Have your husband answer some questions about you/your marriage and report back on his answers!
What was the first thing you noticed about your wife?
When you first started dating your wife, what kept you calling/asking her out?
What is your wife's best quality?
What is your favorite thing to do with your wife (ahem, keep it clean!)?

How do you make your wife feel loved?

Thanks for linking up and I cannot wait to read all of your posts! :)

Wedded Bliss Wednesdays

It's that time again!
This week's theme is all about date night...
Answer the questions, link up your post, and grab the button!
I can't wait to get some great date night ideas from all of you :)

Just be sure to comment on AT LEAST one other post, and be followers of both Allie and I's blogs!
How often do you and your husband have a date night?
Hmmm, before school started? MAYBE 1 a month. Now? Jack stays at my parent's house on Wednesday nights. It's supposed to be a "study night" but John and I have been taking advantage of our baby-free evening by going out to eat or running errands together. It's really REALLY important to us that we spend time together, just the two of us. One could argue that we do this every night after Jack goes to sleep. But we are SUPER guilty of being in the same room and not connecting AT ALL. Sometimes leaving the house is the only way we can make sure we are focused on one another and not blogging, watching TV, cleaning up, etc.

What did you do on your first date?
Technically, our first date was a stop at the Wendy's drive through on the way home from a football game. John would argue that this does not count, but he totally paid for my jr. bacon cheeseburger. The first OFFICIAL, pick me up at my house, take me out date was to some chain restaurant. It was mid-week and I for some reason decided to try out dry shampoo for the first time 15 minutes before John was supposed to pick me up. It was bad. Like, "stick my head in the shower and try to re-blowdry but it still just looks really greasy" bad. Of course, John showed up about 10 minutes early and I was left scrambling around. Oh well. Apparently it didn't scare him away :)
Dates back then were easy! Sorority date parties were always fun :)
What is your favorite kind of date night?
Any kind of date night that is John's idea. If it's John's idea he is guaranteed to be in a good mood, have a good attitude, and want to have fun. Any time John is having fun, everyone is having fun! I love seeing my husband happy and enjoying himself :)

How do you do date night on a budget?
Rent a movie we BOTH are dying to see, open a bottle of wine, and turn off all electronic devices.

What is the best kind of date your husband could surprise you with?!
Something different. An adventure! A new restaurant, a cool park, a concert for a new band we have never heard of.. Anything that he is fired up about that is something for us to try together.

Next weeks questions: Marriage Advice!
If you could give one piece of advice to any married (or soon-to-be married) couple, what would it be?
What is an absolute MUST for any marriage/relationship?
What is the #1 no-no in a marriage?
What is the biggest lesson you have learned from your marriage?

We cannot wait to read all of your posts and learn from you and your marriage!
