How often do you and your husband have a date night?
Hmmm, before school started? MAYBE 1 a month. Now? Jack stays at my parent's house on Wednesday nights. It's supposed to be a "study night" but John and I have been taking advantage of our baby-free evening by going out to eat or running errands together. It's really REALLY important to us that we spend time together, just the two of us. One could argue that we do this every night after Jack goes to sleep. But we are SUPER guilty of being in the same room and not connecting AT ALL. Sometimes leaving the house is the only way we can make sure we are focused on one another and not blogging, watching TV, cleaning up, etc.

What did you do on your first date?
Technically, our first date was a stop at the Wendy's drive through on the way home from a football game. John would argue that this does not count, but he totally paid for my jr. bacon cheeseburger. The first OFFICIAL, pick me up at my house, take me out date was to some chain restaurant. It was mid-week and I for some reason decided to try out dry shampoo for the first time 15 minutes before John was supposed to pick me up. It was bad. Like, "stick my head in the shower and try to re-blowdry but it still just looks really greasy" bad. Of course, John showed up about 10 minutes early and I was left scrambling around. Oh well. Apparently it didn't scare him away :)
Dates back then were easy! Sorority date parties were always fun :)
What is your favorite kind of date night?
Any kind of date night that is John's idea. If it's John's idea he is guaranteed to be in a good mood, have a good attitude, and want to have fun. Any time John is having fun, everyone is having fun! I love seeing my husband happy and enjoying himself :)

How do you do date night on a budget?
Rent a movie we BOTH are dying to see, open a bottle of wine, and turn off all electronic devices.

What is the best kind of date your husband could surprise you with?!
Something different. An adventure! A new restaurant, a cool park, a concert for a new band we have never heard of.. Anything that he is fired up about that is something for us to try together.

Next weeks questions: Marriage Advice!
If you could give one piece of advice to any married (or soon-to-be married) couple, what would it be?
What is an absolute MUST for any marriage/relationship?
What is the #1 no-no in a marriage?
What is the biggest lesson you have learned from your marriage?

We are totally guilty of being in the same room and not talking! That's why we try to go out, but then that costs money.

Andrew and I are guilty of that sometimes too. But there are times when it is nice to just sit in the comfort of your own security as a couple. Love you guys and wish you many more adventurous dates!

Haha, I love that you and I both struggle over what was ACTUALLY the first date!

We can't agree on what our actual first date was either! And there are always times where we're together in the same room when the kids are in bed, but we're totally unaware of one another. I think that's a common thing. Something we've been working on!

I think it's so funny on how so many of us, the "first date" is something we're not entirely sure about. I would have thought that more people had a definite first date...but I see that's not how it works, much of the time!
